Transfr Dashboard Guide

What the Dashboard does, what each staff role can do, and what every left-hand menu item is for.

For: Super Admins, Admins, Instructors, and Reporters

The Transfr Dashboard is where you run your program. You can export reports on learner progress, see summary data across your classrooms or organizations, and set roles that keep learner data private. This guide shows you what your role lets you do, what each menu item is for, and where to find the steps for a specific task.

Who sees what: your role sets your view

What you see in the Dashboard depends on your role. Two people at the same school can open the Dashboard and see different menus and different data. That is normal. It does not mean anything is broken.

There are four roles for staff:

  • Super Admin — View and edit data, and manage users, across more than one organization. Can also set other people's roles.
  • Admin — View and edit data, and manage users, in one organization.
  • Instructor — View and edit data for their own classrooms. Can create learner accounts.
  • Reporter — View data across more than one organization. Cannot make changes.

How to check your own role

Look at the bottom of the left-hand menu. Your name is there, and your role appears below it.

Click your name to open your profile. Your role is listed there under USER TYPE, along with the organization you belong to.

If a menu item seems to be missing, check your role first. Many items only appear for certain roles.

Learners have their own view. It is built for taking sims, not for running a program. Some accounts use a different word than "Learner" for this role, such as "Trainee." Transfr sets that word for your account. It is not something you change yourself.

The main menu items

These items appear for every staff role. What you can do inside each one still depends on your permissions.

  • Dashboard — Your home view, with usage data. Super Admins and Reporters see totals for every organization they cover. Admins and Instructors see their own organization. Your products appear as tabs across the top of this page, so a classroom on Transfr Programs shows under a Programs tab here rather than as its own menu item.
  • Classrooms — Create classrooms and manage who is in them.
  • Users — Add and manage instructor, admin, and learner accounts.
  • Curriculum — Opens the Curriculum Resources page, with lesson plans and assessment tools. See the section below for who gets this item.
  • Mapping — Opens a report showing how Transfr sims line up with standards such as OSHA and NCCER.
  • Catalog — Opens the full catalog of Transfr sims.
  • Support — Opens Transfr's help site. For now this is our older help site, not this one.
  • Funding — Opens Transfr's funding resources.

Menu names are short. Orgs is short for Organizations, and Curriculum opens a page titled Curriculum Resources.

Menu items that depend on your role or your plan

The rest of the menu changes from person to person. If you do not see one of these, it is usually your role, or your account does not include that product. It is not a sign that something is wrong.

  • Orgs — Appears for Super Admins and Reporters. Super Admins can view and manage organizations here. Reporters can only view them.
  • My Work — Appears for Instructors and Admins whose account includes professional learning courses. These are training courses for staff, not for learners. It only appears once a course has been assigned to you. This is different from the "My Work" a learner sees.
  • Devices — Appears for Super Admins, Admins, and Reporters. Instructors do not see it. It also only appears once your account has VR headsets registered. Use it to check on your headsets.
  • Integrations — Appears for Super Admins and Admins. It also needs rostering or single sign-on to be set up for your account first. Rostering means pulling your class lists in from another system, such as Clever or ClassLink.
  • Curriculum — Appears for every staff role, but only if your account includes Transfr Trek, Transfr Train, or a package with Transfr Programs. Inside, materials are split into Trek, Train, and Programs tabs, and you only see tabs for what you have. You can open single files or use Download All.
