How do I preview what learners see?

For: Instructors and Admins

Preview mode opens a classroom the way a learner sees it. Use it to check content before you assign it. Nothing you do in preview mode is tracked or saved to any report.

How to open preview mode

1. Open the classroom you want to check.
2. On the classroom toolbar, select Preview.

The button's tooltip says: "Preview learner experience — Access all classroom content. No data will be tracked and credentials are disabled."

A banner appears at the top of the screen while preview mode is on. That banner is how you know you are still previewing.

How to leave preview mode

Select the close (×) button on the right side of the preview banner. That takes you back to the classroom you started from.

The banner stays on screen the whole time you are in preview mode, so you can leave from any point.

What preview mode changes

When preview mode starts, a banner confirms what changes: "No data will be tracked, no credentials will be awarded, and no prerequisites will be required."

In practice, that means three things:

• No data is tracked. Nothing you click or complete shows up in learner reports.
• No credentials are awarded. You will not earn a certificate for finishing a sim in preview mode.
• You can open any sim in the classroom. You do not need to finish earlier content first. Prerequisites are not enforced in preview mode.

You can explore a full classroom this way. Learner data and progress stay untouched.

Who can preview a classroom

Preview mode is limited by both your role and the classroom's product.

Role: Only Instructors and Admins can use preview mode. Super Admins and Reporters do not have access to it.

Product: Preview mode works for classrooms on Transfr Train or Transfr Programs. It is not available for Basics or Professional Learning classrooms. Transfr Trek classrooms do not support preview mode either.

If you don't see the Preview button

Check two things.

• Your role. Super Admins and Reporters do not see the Preview button. Ask an Instructor or Admin on that classroom to preview it for you. To check your own role, look at the bottom of the left-hand menu, below your name.
• The classroom's product. Preview mode only shows up on Transfr Train and Transfr Programs classrooms. It does not appear on Basics, Professional Learning, or Transfr Trek classrooms.

To see which product a classroom uses, open Classrooms in the left-hand menu. The classroom list has a Products column.
