What is a Transfr Program?

A Program is the classroom-level container for a Course. How Programs, Courses, and Course Builder fit.

For: Admins and Instructors setting up a Programs classroom

A Program is the classroom-level container that gives a classroom its structured content — a Course, made up of Units, Lessons, and Activities. Transfr provides several ready-made Programs, and Course Builder is the tool you use to build or customize the Course inside one.

What's the difference between a Program and a Course?

A Program sits at the classroom level — it's the entitlement you assign to a classroom when you set it up. A Course is the content object that lives inside a Program: Course, made of Units, made of Lessons, made of Activities. Course Builder is the tool that creates and edits a Course. Choosing a Program gives the classroom its content package; Course Builder is where you shape what learners actually see and do inside that package, unit by unit.

Which Programs does Transfr provide?

Three Programs come from Transfr today:

  • Fundamental Skills
  • Construction Laborer PEP
  • Mechanical Industrial Maintenance Technician PEP

A fourth option, Build your own, appears in the Program dropdown for organizations that want to assemble their own Course from scratch in Course Builder rather than start from a Transfr-built one. Whichever option a classroom uses, it holds exactly one Program at a time.

Fundamental Skills is not the same thing as Foundational Skills. Fundamental Skills is the name of this Program. Foundational Skills is a folder of cross-trade resources on the Train tab of Curriculum Resources. Both labels are live and both are correct — they name two different things in two different places. See Curriculum Resources.

Where do I find Programs?

Programs is not a left-nav item on the Dashboard, so don't look for it in the main sidebar. You'll find it as a product tab on the Dashboard, alongside Train, Trek (VR), and Trek (Mobile), and as a tab inside Curriculum Resources next to the Trek and Train tabs.
