Meta Horizon accounts and activation codes
What a Meta Horizon Managed Services account is, what it costs, and the two codes involved in connecting your organization to Transfr.
For: IT Admins at organizations using their own headsets
If Transfr provides your headsets, you can skip this article. Leased units arrive already managed and loaded — there is no Meta Horizon account for you to create and no activation code to send. Open the box, connect to Wi-Fi, and go.
If your organization buys and manages its own Meta Quest headsets, the first stop is Meta's own management layer: a Meta Horizon Managed Services account. This article covers what that account costs, how to create it, and the two codes involved in connecting your organization to Transfr — which are easy to mix up.
Does Meta Horizon Managed Services cost anything?
No. It is free. It used to be sold as a paid subscription (Meta Quest for Business), which is why older documents — including earlier versions of ours — describe a fee. There is no subscription cost today for the management layer itself.
Two different codes, and which is which
Note: These get confused constantly, so it is worth being precise. The activation code is generated by you during sign-up and sent to Transfr. The relationship ID is generated by Transfr and sent to you. They are used at different steps and are not interchangeable.
Create your Meta Horizon Managed Services account
- Open the Meta Horizon Managed Services sign-up form.
- Enter your company email address, then complete the required fields to create an account.
- Meta emails a verification code from an @meta.com address. Enter it to verify your email.
- Enter your organization's name and select the number of Meta Quest devices.
- Read the Meta for Work Terms of Service and check the box to agree.
- Wait a moment while the account is created.
- Choose Subscribe through a Reseller.
- Review and agree to the Meta Horizon Managed Solutions Reseller Customer Terms.
- Copy the activation code and send it to your reseller — that is Transfr. Email it to provisioning@transfrvr.com.
Set up the external relationship with Transfr
So that Transfr can provision your headsets, we need temporary access to your Meta Horizon Admin Center. Transfr sends you a relationship ID by email; you enter it here.
- In Admin Center, select Account Management in the left menu.
- Select External relationships in the left menu.
- Select Set up relationship in the top right.
- Enter the relationship ID Transfr provided, then select Check.
- Tick the checkbox to confirm it is the correct organization, then select Continue.
- Select the admin role to grant people from the external organization. The External system admin role carries all permissions except managing external relationships hosted by you and viewing security logs and alerts. A custom admin role also works.
- Select Automatic Approval for how access is approved when Transfr adds people. You can change this at any time.
- Select Continue, review the relationship settings, then select Send invitation.
What happens next
Transfr accepts the relationship and creates your organization's ManageXR instance. From there the work moves into ManageXR — redeeming share codes, deploying apps, and enrolling headsets. See Using your own Quest headsets? for the full journey and How do I accept Transfr apps in ManageXR? for the share codes.
