Changing Controller Batteries

For: Instructors, facilitators, and IT staff

Transfr headset controllers run on replaceable AA batteries. When a controller stops responding, or the controller charge indicator below the menu of Transfr applications in the headset shows it's low, swapping the batteries is the fix. The steps differ slightly by headset, so use the section for your device.

Note: The number of batteries per controller is not the same across devices. A Quest controller takes one AA battery each. A Pico controller takes two AA batteries each.

Quest controllers

Each Quest controller uses a single AA battery. The video below shows how to change the batteries in the hand controllers.

Pico controllers

If the controller still does not respond

• Check the battery orientation. A battery seated the wrong way round will leave the controller completely unresponsive rather than partly working.
• Re-seat the batteries. Taking them out and putting them back can bring a controller that has been unused for a while back to life.
• Check the controller charge indicator below the menu of Transfr applications in the headset. It shows the left controller charge, the right controller charge, and the Wi-Fi connection.
