What does Transfr need on our network?

Headsets need specific network access to run sims and sync. Where to find the exact requirements.

For: IT staff

Transfr headsets need reliable access to the internet and to specific network destinations to download sims, sync learner progress, and stream video content. The exact domains, ports, and protocols are documented separately so your team can hand them straight to a firewall admin.

Where are the exact network requirements?

The full list of required domains, ports, and protocols lives in our network requirements article. That's the source to allowlist against — don't rely on general Wi-Fi troubleshooting or a school's standard device policy, since VR headsets have different needs than laptops or tablets.

Setting up Wi-Fi on a headset for the first time

If you're connecting a headset to your network for the first time, or a device isn't reaching Transfr content even though Wi-Fi shows connected, check the network requirements article for the current allowlist before opening a ticket. Most connectivity issues on school networks come down to a filter or firewall rule blocking a required destination, not a bad Wi-Fi password.

Setting up a replacement headset

Replacing a headset that died or was swapped out follows the same allowlisting process, plus a device-specific step: adding the new headset's MAC address to your network. Our replacement headset article covers both together — the MAC address step and where the network requirements live — so start there if a headset is being swapped.
